SIR model is a mathematical model used to predict the spread of infectious diseases in the real world.

The simplified version of the SIR model is also used to calculate the effect of Bacteria when attacking planets. It implies that the amount of Bacteria necessary to kill the remaining population grows as more people are infected and die, because it is more difficult to transmit the disease effectively or a resistance is built up.
